The governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the August 15 election in Osun State, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji, has pledged to transform Ile-Ife through massive infrastructure development, describing the ancient town as deserving of facilities that reflect its status as the cradle of humanity.

Oyebamiji made the pledge on Thursday during the official flag-off of the party’s governorship campaign in Ile-Ife, where he also accused the incumbent state government of neglecting the historic town in terms of infrastructural development.

The campaign began with a visit to the palace of the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, where the APC candidate and members of his campaign council sought the monarch’s royal blessings ahead of the election.

The campaign train later moved to Enuwa, where thousands of party supporters and loyalists converged for a rally marking the commencement of the party’s statewide campaign.

Addressing the gathering, Oyebamiji assured residents that his administration, if elected, would give priority to road construction in Ile-Ife, improve healthcare delivery, revitalise the education sector, sustain workers’ welfare, and create an enabling environment for commerce and economic growth.

He said his administration would ensure balanced development across Osun State, stressing that Ile-Ife would receive the attention commensurate with its historical and cultural significance.

The Director-General of the APC Governorship Campaign Council, Oluwole Oke, expressed confidence that the party would unseat the incumbent governor in the August 15 poll, urging party members to remain united and committed to the campaign.

Similarly, Senator Francis Fadahunsi, representing Osun East Senatorial District, called on party supporters to mobilise voters across their respective communities to ensure victory for the APC at the election.

Also speaking, the Director-General of the Osun Central APC Campaign Council, Dotun Babayemi, charged party faithful to intensify grassroots mobilisation and sustain the momentum generated by the campaign flag-off.

With less than 30 days to the governorship election, the APC said it would deepen its grassroots engagement across the state in a bid to secure victory at the polls.
