The Baba Adini of Osun State, Alhaji Dr. Abdulfatai Adesina Kolawole, has congratulated Muslims and residents of the state on the celebration of this year’s Eid-ul-Adha, urging them to embrace the virtues of sacrifice, unity, love and compassion.
In a felicitation message issued to mark the Eid Kabir celebration, Kolawole described the festival as a sacred period that goes beyond merriment and feasting, noting that it serves as a reminder of faith, obedience and total submission to the will of Almighty Allah as exemplified by Prophet Ibrahim.
He called on residents of the state, particularly Muslims, to use the occasion to reflect on their responsibilities to humanity by supporting the less privileged, widows, orphans and other vulnerable members of society.
Quoting from the Holy Qur’an, the Islamic leader said acts of charity and kindness attract abundant rewards from Allah, stressing the need for citizens to promote peaceful coexistence and mutual support.
“The example of those who spend their wealth in the way of Allah is like a seed which grows seven spikes; in each spike is a hundred grains,” he quoted from Qur’an 2:261.
Kolawole also referenced a saying of Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him), which teaches that Allah assists those who assist others, adding that the message should inspire citizens to strengthen the bond of brotherhood and harmony within their communities.
He further urged the people of Osun State to forgive one another and renew their commitment to good deeds for the collective progress and development of the state.
The Baba Adini specifically advised youths to remain hopeful, responsible and focused, while encouraging leaders and citizens to uphold justice, peace and mutual understanding regardless of religious or political differences.
According to him, unity in diversity, love for humanity and service to others remain essential ingredients for building a prosperous society.
He prayed that Almighty Allah would accept the sacrifices of the faithful, grant peace and abundance to homes, and continue to guide and protect Osun State and Nigeria.
Kolawole also wished Muslims across the state and the country a peaceful and rewarding Eid-el-Kabir celebration.
