Kwara State Governor, Abdulraman Abdulrasaq has asked traditional rulers in the State to be more vigilant to be able avert any protest that can escalate to crisis in their domains.

Governor Abdulrasaq was speaking during a meeting with traditional rulers in the state on the state of the nation as it affects the state in particular.

He enjoined the traditional rulers to assist in passing message of peaceful protest to the young ones in their communities.

“We believe that people are free to protest. It is a democratic right. What we call for is that it should be peaceful”.

While noting that it is the right of the youth to protest, the Governor urged them not to allow people with ulterior motives to hijack the protest.

On the minimum wage, the Governor expressed government’s commitment to paying just as he emphasised the need to agree on the consequential adjustment which would allow balance payment of salaries for the civil servants, fixing of infrastructure and meeting obligations to the rest of the population.
