Bisi Led Osun PDP Faction Shuns Reconciliation Meeting
Members of the Peoples Democratic Party of the Hon. Sunday Bisi led faction were conspicuously absent on Wednesday at a reconciliation meeting of the party in Osogbo, the State capital.
This might not be unconnected to the prior notice of the meeting reportedly issued by the Hon. Soji Adagunodo led faction.
A committee of Southwest Leaders of the party chaired by Osun State former governor, Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola on Wednesday met in Osogbo for a reconciliation move to end the friction within the party.
The former governor said it high time the lingering crisis was resolved as he expressed optimism that the move would end the crisis.
“PDP needs every votes to get to power. Let’s adjust and settle our differences. Let’s forgive each other and move on. I will approach anyone that is ready for talks. I am ready. The crises in Osun PDP will soon be resolved” Oyinlola said.
He appealed to the two factions to sheath their swords and allow peace to reign in the interest of the party.
The embattled chairman of the PDP in Osun State, Hon. Soji Adagunodo said some leaders in the State had in the past made similar reconciliation efforts but were rebuffed by the Hon. Sunday Bisi led factional chairman.
Adagunodo hoped that the latest effort by the Zonal leaders of the party would not suffer similar fate so the the party can become stronger ahead of future elections.
He said, “What is paramount is the interest of this party, you cannot continue to fight if you truly love this party. If you continue to fight till the election day, what will you tell the electorate?
I want use this opportunity to appeal to them that they should sheath the sword. Why are we fighting? What are we fighting for? What we should be fighting for is how we are going to get to government, how we are going to get the sympathy of the masses and the electorate to vote our party. How our candidate will become the governor of this state”.
Recalled that the Osun state PDP has been fictionalised into two different camps with both Adagunodo and Bisi led camps having two separate Secretariats in different locations within the State capital.
