Iragbiji Celebrates 17th Gbagede Oba

The Vice Chancellor, Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta, Prof. Babatunde Kehinde on Tuesday hailed the Aragbiji of Iragbiji, Oba Abdulrosheed Olabomi for his commitment to developing the town.

Babatunde spoke during a Royal Ceremony tagged “Gbagede Oba” in iragbiji, the headquarters of Boripe local government area of Osun State.

He averred that inclusive socio-cultural interaction and unity among indigenes of any community are vital tools for community development and sustainable growth.

The Vice Chancellor called on sons and daughters of iragbiji, home and abroad, to rally round their monarch because of his drive and commitment in using every opportunity to promote unity and harness the inherent benefits to facilitate development to the community.

“Iragbiji has been growing and becoming famous and popular in Nigeria with so many developmental things happening there, my advice is that every members of the community, every member of the town should really round the Kabiyesi more and more. As a progressive monarch, someone who is interested in progress and development of the community, they support him more and more,” Prof. Babatunde said.

Speaking at the event, the monarch, Oba Abdulrosheed Olabomi described the town as one of the most peaceful and cooperative communities with unity of purpose in Nigeria

He noted that the celebration of the annual Gbagede Oba in iragbiji was significant and has had positive impacts on the town since inception in 2008.

The monarch said, “We’ve achieved a lot of cooperation and unity amongst our people, so far one can say, without mincing words that one of the most cooperative, peaceful and progressive communities in Nigeria is Iragbiji. Iragbiji is like a single room, we interact, we relate, there is no crisis.

The Eesa of the community, High Chief Folarin Oyelami commented Oba Abdulrosheed Olabomi for his commitment to promoting everything gear towards uplifting the town.

The event, which was the 17th edition, is celebrated annually, particularly the third day after Eidul adha celebrations in Iragbiji.
