Covid-19: Oyetola Charges Parents on Guarding their Wards
Osun State Governor, Gboyega Oyetola on Thursday urged parents and guardians to take adequate care of there children as the nation experiences the second wave of COVID 19.
Oyetola made the plea in Osogbo, Osun state capital at a meeting with Parent Teachers Association of Ataoja School of Science, Osogbo.
The Governor who was represented by his Special Adviser on Civic Engagement, Hon. Olatunbosun Oyintiloye also said it is imperative for parents to enlighten their children on COVID 19 preventive measure to guide them against the deadly virus.
He said his administration is committed to providing quality education to the children but the parents also have a lot to do in assisting this children to become good ambassadors of the State.
“I want to implore parents to take adequate care of their children against the second wave of COVID 19 which is considered deadlier.
“Parents should also endeavor to teach their children all the preventive measures against the deadly virus.
“The government of Osun is committed to providing quality education to the children but I want to appeal to you parents to give adequate support to the need of your children.
“You must equally support the efforts of Oyetola’s administration in curbing all forms of children and gender based violence such as rape, female genital mutilation, trafficking, child abuse among other menaces which permeate the modern society.
Speaking, the Principal of Ataoja School of Science Osogbo, Akinloye Oyebamiji appreciated the government presence at the meeting, saying it is a morale booster for both parents and teachers.
Mr. Oyebamiji said the school has always supported the government in the area of making sure that their students adhere strictly with the Covid-19 directives by using nose mask and cultivating the habit of regular hand washing.
He promised that the school will intensify more effort to make their wards observe the laid down protocol for the containment of covid-19 pandemic in the state.
The Chairman of Parent Teachers Association in Ataoja School of Science Osogbo, Comrade Femi Ogunsanya said the enlightenment has indeed widened the horizon of parents and even the teachers on their responsibility towards their wards against the dangers of coronavirus and the safety measures to follow.
He however, appreciated the governor’s representative for giving a cue on children and gender based violence as well as ways to curb the societal menace.
