The General Gbasky Movement has declared its support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the forthcoming presidential election and endorsed Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, for the state’s forthcoming governorship election.

The movement made its position known at a press conference held under the theme, “A Call for Continuous Unity, Progress and Good Governance.”

According to the movement, its decision followed extensive consultations with its members, stakeholders, youth groups, women leaders, community representatives and political associates across Osun State.

The Convener of the movement, Aponbiede Olufemi Ayodeji, said the organisation remained committed to promoting unity, peace, sustainable development and good governance, stressing that the interest of the people would always take precedence over personal or political considerations.

“We hereby declare our adoption and endorsement of His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, as our preferred candidate for the forthcoming presidential election,” the movement stated.

It said President Tinubu’s commitment to national development, economic reforms and infrastructure, as well as the Renewed Hope Agenda, informed its decision to support his candidature.

The movement also endorsed Governor Ademola Adeleke for the forthcoming Osun governorship election, citing his administration’s efforts in infrastructure development, workers’ welfare, education, healthcare and people-oriented governance across the state.

“Our decision is based on our belief that leadership should be evaluated by performance, vision, and commitment to the people rather than partisan interests alone,” the movement said.

It urged members of the General Gbasky Movement, its supporters and other citizens to remain peaceful, law-abiding and actively participate in the democratic process.

The group also appealed to political parties and their supporters to conduct their campaigns without violence, intimidation or hate speech, stressing that elections should be a celebration of democracy rather than a source of conflict.

“Elections should be a celebration of democracy, not a source of conflict,” it stated.

The General Gbasky Movement further reaffirmed its commitment to grassroots mobilisation, political education, youth empowerment and community development, promising to work with relevant stakeholders towards ensuring peaceful, free, fair and credible elections.

The movement expressed appreciation to its members and supporters for their loyalty and dedication, saying it would continue to contribute to the building of a stronger, united and prosperous Osun State and Nigeria.
