GOVERNOR OYETOLA APPOINTS PROF OLAITAN AS SUBSTANTIVE CMD FOR LAUTECH-TH OSOGBO
The Governor, of Osun State, Gboyega Oyetola has confirmed the appointment of Professor Peter Babatunde Olaitan as the substantive Chief Medical Director for Lautech Teaching Hospital, Osogbo.with effect from Friday 30 October, 2020.

The release notes that the appointment of Prof. Olaitan, in the confirmation letter signed by Dr Festus Olowogboyega Oyebade, Head of Service, the State Governor enjoins Prof Olaitan to continue to be hardworking as usual.
Before his confirmation, Professor Olaitan was appointed the Chief Medical Director in an acting capacity on April 07, 2020. Before that acting appointment, Professor Olaitan was the Provost College of Health Sciences, Osogbo campus of Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, Ogbomosho.
Olaitan is a Consultant Plastic Surgeon with immense professional experience and international exposure.
Since his appointment some six months ago, Olaitan has embarked on some social engineering which included forging of intimate working relationships with relevant stakeholders in and out of the hospital, including leadership of owner state. As a way of giving sense of direction to the management of the hospital, a high level leadership training seminar was held for the heads of departments so as to enable them to key into his avowed vision to turn the hospital around.
Professor Olaitan, a graduate of University of Ibadan Medical School is a Specialist in Burns & Plastic surgery and has wide training in Plastic surgery at National Orthopaedic Hospital, Enugu and University College Hospital, Ibadan. He had further trainings in some African countries, India, UK and USA. His areas of specialization include Craniofacial surgery , Keloids and Scars as well as Burns care.
Prof. Olaitan has held several positions in the past at Lautech Teaching Hospital Osogbo and the University. He was a former President, Association of Resident Doctors (ARD) 2001, Head of Department of Surgery (2012-2015), Chairman, Medical Advisory Committee (C-MAC) 2005-2009, Dean, Faculty of Clinical Sciences (2016-2019) and Provost, College of Health Sciences from August 2019 until his appointment as the Acting Chief Medical Director. He also served as the Incident manager on Osun State COVID-19 programm, coordinating the activities of the team involved in COVID-19 care.
Reacting to his confirmation as the substantive Chief Medical Director, Professor Peter Olaitan said the new development will afford him opportunity to implement his vision for the hospital to the fullest.
Among all other things, Olaitan said his vision will give priority to bringing Ladoke Akintola University of Technology Teaching Hospital to a standard obtainable in any teaching hospital in the world with effective training, efficient clinical works and award winning research activities.
He also said that his management will create a conducive environment for achieving excellence by staff and students. He will equally endeavor to ensure good training, effective care and highly impacting research. Priority will also be giving to rebuilding and repositioning the hospital by recruiting and retaining the right caliber of staff as well as providing capacity building opportunities while improving tools and resources to evolve a teaching hospital that will lead to development in partnership with its owners and end users.
