Just In: Court Remands Sowore, Others

A magistrate court in Abuja has on Monday remanded in Kuje Correctional Center, Omoyele Sowore and others including, Juwon Sanyaolu, Damilare Adenola, Peter and Kimrere.

They would be in till their bail is perfected.

The commissioner of police FCT had arraigned the convener of RevolutionNow protest Omoyele Sowore and 4 others before a magistrate court on a 3 count charge of Criminal conspiracy, unlawful assembly and public disturbance.

The defendants were on 1st January 2021 arrested by the Special weapons tactical team in Abuja while protesting to mark the New Year celebration.

The prosecution alleged that the defendants were arrested with placards calling for a violent Revolution against president Muhammadu Buhari.

The defendants pleaded not guilty to the charges.

Court orders the defendants to be remanded in Kuje correctional center pending the hearing and determination of their formal bail application.

The matter was adjourned to Tuesday, January 5th, 2021.
