…Says the town has invested so much in PDP and its elections’ victory in Osun

The Concerned Indigenes of Ikoyi in Isokan-Irewole Ayedaade federal Constituency of Osun state has appealed to Governor Ademola Adeleke to appoint Chief Lanre Odelade as commissioner in his cabinet.

The group made the plea among other requests during a press conference held on Saturday at the Ikoyi Town Hall.

In a written address read by Samson Olowoporoku, the of the group, Eng Adesokan Adewale Abdulkabir noted that the conference was to draw attention to the need for increased Government presence in Isokan- Ayedaade- Irewole Constituency and due inclusion of sons and daughters of Ikoyi Kingdom in the governance of Osun state.

Engr.Abdulkabrib said, Ikoyi has people of high integrity and requisite education and professional qualifications for public and Political positions, with track records of outstanding performance in private and official capacities for appointments in the state executive council.

He said “It is our belief that opportunities will be extended to Ikoyi Kingdom to present such men, like Chief Lanre Odelade for a Commissioner of Cabinet rank in this progressive Government.”

He went down the memory lane to recall contributions of Ikoyi kingdom to the success of the Peoples Democratic Party since the Administration of Governor Olagunsoye Oyinlola.

“We recall that Ikoyi did not benefit from the APC Government throughout it’s tenure in terms of appointments or projects, as a result of the principled stand of our people to the humanist agenda of the Peoples Democratic Party Administration then.

“Despite the neglect, Our faith in the ideals of the Peoples Democratic Party and it’s representatives have been consistent and this permeated the twelve years that the All Progressive Congress was in power in Osun state”, Abdulkabir noted.

He further said “We use this medium to appreciate Governor Ademola Adeleke’s infrastructural development efforts through which Ikoyi has benefited from the bore -holes sunk at all the 326 wards in the state.

“We are much happier that Ikoyi did not let the party down as Governor Adeleke won handsomely and all candidates of the party were returned elected in the state and National Assembly polls.
It is our believe that Ikoyi Kingdom will continue to sustain the level of it’s traditional support for the party.

“However, we believe that Ikoyi and environs still need more government presence in the areas good road network, such as Orita Ijebu- Abiri- Total, AUD-Oke Olusi roads among others.

“Ikoyi is also in need of schools and functional maternity centres to guatemala the health needs of the people.

“Power supply is another point of need.
With increased socio-economic activities, more transformers are required to halt incessant power outages in the Federal Constituency.

Representing Onikoyi of Ikoyi Oba Taofeek Iyiola Morenigbade Akande, the Asalu of Ikoyi land, High Chief Akinola called for collaboration between the community and political leaders in facilitating rapid development and progress of the town.

He decried the neglect of the town in terms of provision of basic amenities and infrastructure by the previous government, calling of governor Adeleke to consider the town in his plans.

Speaking, the Aro of Ikoyi land, High Chief Oladimeji Oladapo as well as the Iyalode of Ikoyi recounted some community efforts of the indigenes of the town and especially, the monarch in raising standard of living and education in the town.
