Monitor Children’s Attendance, Performance In School – Adeyemo Charges Parents

Parents in Osun State have been urged to be active stakeholders in the educational developments of their children and wards.

To this extent, they have been asked to check daily studies and homework and assignments given to them by their teachers.

This call was made by a veteran broadcaster and public relations expert who is also the Chairman, Parents-Teachers Association of Adventist Grammar School, Ede, Chief Ayodele Adeyemo.

Adeyemo made the appeal at a presentation of assorted books and scorlaships to students in the senior school section on virtually all examination subjects by a non- Government Organisations called Dee Tee EduFoundation.

“It is only when parents play an active role as stakeholders in the educational developments of their children and wards that teachers’ efforts can be fruitful,” opined Adeyemo.

To this extent, parents should check daily studies and homework and assignments given to their children and wards by their teachers.

It is by so doing that parents can monitor attendance in school and prevent truancy and joining bad gangs.

Dee Tee Educational Foundation is a non-governmental organization with members comprising forward-looking and insightful young men and women with a common vision of mentoring youths in positive and meaningful lifestyles. DeeTee Educational Foundation was ably represented by Rev’d Olatoye Adeniyi, the Director of Outreach and Miss Blessing Ajuwon, the Organization’s Secretary and other executive members.

Rev Adeniyi disclosed that DeeTee EduFoundation, a non-profit, non-governmental organization, was founded in Nigeria some years ago with the aim of bridging the gap between highly-talented, yet underprivileged students and access to quality education.

“We seek to promote inclusive and equitable lifelong learning opportunities for underserved children in Nigeria with extension to other African countries.

DeeTee EduFoundation aspires to impact the lives of African youths. Our vision is to be a major helping hand to raise future iconic leaders in their respective careers beyond any barriers.”

According to the Executive Director of the organisation in line with the mission of the organisation, the donation to students of Adventist Grammar School Ede is in line with their mission of providing access to quality education by providing students with educational resources (general and subject-based textbooks, writing and learning materials, and technology materials), financial assistance in form of scholarships, and early career mentorship with the aim to prepare them for a successful and rewarding professions.

The goal is to be able to provide these opportunities to over 50,000 underprivileged students in Africa within the next three years. We are bridging the gap between highly talented African students and access to quality education in line with SDG goal #4. We seek to reduce the constantly growing population of out-of-school children in Nigeria.

In her welcome address, the principal of the school, Mrs Funmilayo Odedunmoye who was visibly elated commended the DeeTee EduFoundation for what she calls historic presentation of learning materials and scholarships to some selected students in the school.

She disclosed that through her interactions with a member of the organisation who told her that the foundation’s gesture to complement the efforts of Osun State government in moving education forward most especially the basic and post basic classes. She appreciated the foundation for “counting the school worthy to be the first beneficiary in the whole of Africa.

I regard it as a privilege.” The principal assured DeeTee EduFoundation of optimal utilisation of the gesture.

Among all other items, the foundation based in the United States endowed the school with include:
* Scholarship for 119 indigent students.
* Mathematical sets for all students in the school.
*English Language reading textbooks as well as Mathematics textbooks for indigent students in Basic classes. Other gifts include textbooks in English Language, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Economics, Literature in English, Government and Financial Account.
