Oluwo Celebrates 5th Coronation Anniversary, Prays For End of COVID-19
The ancient town of Iwo, the headquarters of Iwo local government area of Osun State was on Saturday, 16th January, 2021 agog as the Paramount Ruler and the Oluwo of Iwo Kingdom, Oba AbdulRasheed Akanbi celebrated 5th anniversary on the throne of his forefathers.
The event attracted big wigs in the likes of highly revered monarchs, politicians, captains of industries, friends and associates from home and in the diaspora including sons and daughters of Iwo land.
Addressing attendees Oba Akanbi attributed his achievements and infrastructural development witnessed in lwoland in the last 5 years to the collective efforts of all the people of the town
He who acknowledged his subjects’ expression of love and acceptance towards him, charged them to continue to remain loyal to his throne to attract more development to the town from the government.
The monarch dedicated the 5th anniversary to appreciating and praising God for the relative peace and progress enjoyed by the town and the people during his reign.
He used the occasion to pray for the end of the novel coronavirus which is ravaging the world world.
“My 5 years of reign, it has been tremendous achievements, unprecedented development. I m happy with my people and my people are happy with me. There is nothing more to say other than thank God.
“For anyone to attend this event at the crucial moment, it is out of love. Look at the Emir of Bichi from far away Kano State. The same thing, Olofa of Offa is also here and other traditional rulers. We did not have any case of COVID-19 here in Iwo and nobody will not contract it.
“I pray for you as I am celebrating 5 years on the throne that all stagnations, poverty, and sickness of all my subjects shall come to an end.
“Not a single person has been infected with coronavirus in Iwo land and I know and pray that nobody that came to Iwo will contract the virus. I m also using this opportunity to pray for an end of the virus in Nigeria and all parts of the world.”
Speaking, Olofa of Offa, His Royal Majesty, Oba Mufutau Muhammed Gbadamosi Ajagungbade urged sons and daughters of Iwo to cooperate and continue to be loyal to their king to enable him continue focusing on development of the town.
He also used the opportunity to praise the governor of Osun State in his various capacities in which developments are being brought to Iwoland.
Also speaking, the Emir of Bichi, Kano State, Alhaji Nasir Ado Bayero sought more collaboration and exchange of meaningful ideas among traditional rulers.
He commended Oluwo for the laudable achievements he has achieved in a short period of five years urging him to continue to bring development to the town and his people.
In an interview with Daily Mail, one of rhe traditional rulers from Badagry, Sergio Olalekan emphasised the need for government to actively engage the traditional rulers in entrenching peace in their domain as a way to tackle security challenges in the country.
He said the Oluwo has shown enough to the people on how to attract development to his town as well as how to promote peace in his domain.
