…You ‘ve surpassed expectations – Yeye Dupe Adeleke-Sani lauds the lawmaker
Osun State Governor’s elder sister, Dupe Adeleke-Sani, has lauded ‘the excellent performance’ of the lawmaker representing Obokun State Constituency at the Osun State House of Assembly, Adeyemi Adewumi.
The governor’s sister who said she was in support of a woman candidacy against Hon. Adewumi prior to the State Assembly election, was convinced that the lawmaker has surpassed expectations with his performance.
Mrs Adeleke-Sani disclosed this in Ibokun, at the official launch and presentation of cheque to women coorporative empowerment programme sponsored by Hon. Adewumi.
She said “I personally kicked against Hon Adeyemi Adewumi while vying for second term as a member Osun State House of Assembly to represent obokun State Constituency in February, 2023 elections.
“the reason why I kicked against him was that I prioritise women a lot, their importance and active participation in politics, so I wanted a woman to contest in Obokun State constituency and win the election.
“When he wanted to contest for the second term, you recall that a woman also declared interest and I supported the woman, I said why don’t you want to give chance to a woman, I called Party Chairman and leaders in obokun that why are you denying women to participate in politics.
I dragged it with them, later party leaders came and begged me, and said we knew you are fighting for women, Irekandu is also your son give him chance for the second term and I called the woman, told her that the party leaders came to beg me and I have accepted, God’s time is the best.”
She added “The reason why I said I love how Adeyemi Adewumi disappointed me was that I did not support him for any reason, at the end of the day I gave him my blessings to run for the second term, he hasn’t disappoint me because he performed well, I congratulates the party, this is not the first time of his empowerment programme. He sent all his plans and programmes to me on Whatsapp and as a mother, I prayed for him”.
The State Chairman of the party, Hon Sunday Bisi, said the programme was part of cardinal point agenda of the current administration towards giving back to the society.
He noted that the 332 wards in the state has been enlisted in coorporative society to access fund and support from the government.
Hon. Bisi also gave assurance that Imole Youth Corps Scheme would kickstart in no distance time.
Speaking, Hon. Adewumi, said the Idea was conceived years back to give back to the society and promote small scale businesses among women.
He hinted that a leadership structure have been put in place to oversea the exercise and ensure its sustainability.
One of the beneficiaries who could not hide her feelings, Kehinde Fakolujo, appreciated hon. Adewumi for supporting women in obokun State constituency,
She said the empowerment programme would go a long way in enhancing small scale businesses and would be less dependent on government.
