RevolutionNow Protest in Osun Amidst Independence Anniversary Celebration
Members of RevolutionNow in Osun state staged a peaceful protest amidst Nigeria’s 60th independence anniversary to agitate for economic and political policies that will assuage the plight of the masses.
The protesters converged on popular Freedom park at the state capital, moved across many areas down to Olaiya Junction with security operatives stationed at strategic areas to monitor their activities.
Addressing newsmen, they called on government to be committed to using the nation’s resources to focus on the welfare of the citizenry by fixing infrastructure deficits in all sectors.
They called on government to use the independence anniversary to reflect and address the spate of insecurity occasioned by activities of insurgents, among others across the nation.
The protesters lamented that importation was banned without sufficient provision of substitution to cushion its economic impacts on the means of livelihood of the masses.
They equally lamented that global indices on poverty rate in the nation is as a result of maladministration and government’s insensitivity to the plight of the masses
The group submitted that capitalist and Neo-liberal system cannot guarantee the masses the desired economic and political dividends except the nation adopts socialist system of government.
