Timothy Adegoke’s Murder: Adedoyin, Two Others Sentenced To Death By Hanging

The Osun State High Court in Osogbo has sentenced Abdulraman Adedoyin, the owner of Hilton Hotel, Ile-Ife and others to death by hanging for being culpable and found guilty in the murder case of Timothy Adegoke, a Master’s student of the Obafemi Awolowo University.

Adegoke died in controversial circumstances at Hilton Hotel, Ile-Ife belonging to Adedoyin in November 2021.

Delivering the judgement, the chief judge of Osun State, Justice Adepele Ojo held that Abdulraman Adedoyin, Kazeem Oyetunde and Adeniyi Aderogba were guilty of the charges against them and were sentenced to death by hanging.

They were also sentenced to serve different years of jail terms for other offences committed such as conspiracy and unlawful interference with the deceased body in an attempt to cover up.

Adepele-Ojo held that the vehicle, (hilux van) which was used by the accused persons to convey the body of Adegoke to where he was buried, as well as the hotel belonging to Adedoyin be forfeited to the State.

She also held that the children of late Timothy Adegoke’s education be placed under sponsorship of Abdulraman Adedoyin’s estate up to university level and completion of National Youths Service Corp.

Recall that Adedoyin and six workers of the hotel – Magdalene Chiefuna, Adeniyi Aderogba, Oluwole Lawrence, Oyetunde Kazeem, Adebayo Kunle, Adedeji Adesola – were arraigned on 18 counts bordering on murder, conspiracy and felony by the state.

Three of them, Adebayo Kunle, Oluwole Lawrence and Magdalene Chiefuna were discharged and acquitted of all charges against.

After the plea to tamper justice with mercy by both the defence and prosecution counsels on behalf of Adedeji Adesola who was also found guilty of charges pressed against her, justice Adepele-Ojo adjourned till tomorrow Wednesday for her sentencing.
