Troop, others feared killed in Zamfara village bandits Attack
Scores were feared killed in a shootout between soldiers and armed bandits in Kabasa Village of Magami District in Gusau Local Government Area of Zamfara State.
Daily Mail gathered that at least three soldiers and four others might have died in the shootout.
Reports say, the whole community was thrown into pandemonium as several other residents trying to escape the attack were injured.
A a resident, Saminu Usman told newsmen that seven people were confirmed dead in the attack.
The State Governor, Bello Matawalle, said he received with shock “the report of an attack by some recalcitrant bandits who unleashed mayhem on innocent people” in Kabasa village of Magami district in Gusau Local Government Area of the state.
The Governor, however, did not give the actual number of casualties.
In a statement signed by the state’s Commissioner of information, Ibrahim Dosara, the Governor said he was disturbed by the “sad event and strongly condemned it which led to the loss of lives in the village.”
The statement read in part: “The government has already directed security agencies in the state to carry out a full investigation into the incident and report back to the government for action.
“Meanwhile, the standing committee for the assessment of damages constituted by the state government has been instructed to visit the community to assess the level of damages inflicted on the community.
“People of the affected community in particular and the state in general, are also advised to remain law-abiding and go about their normal businesses
“May the Almighty Allah continue to guide and assist the people of Zamfara State in overcoming this terrible menace.”
