UNIOSUN Holds 2nd Induction Ceremony for Graduate Nurses

The Department of Nursing Science of Osun State University, in collaboration with the Nursing & Midwifery Council of Nigeria (NMCN), on Wednesday, 10th of November, 2021 graduated and inducted thirty-three (33) nurses of the Institution into the nursing profession.

The Acting Vice-Chancellor, Osun State University, Professor Afeez Adefemi Bello charged the new inductees to continue to be good ambassadors of the University.

While delivering his address, Professor Afeez Adefemi Bello congratulated the inductees and beseeched them to continue to be good Ambassadors of the University.

“To our inductees, I congratulate you for achieving this feat. Today, you all would be inducted as registered nurses and midwives, therefore I want to use this medium to implore you all to approach your profession with every bit of professionalism and endeavour to make telling positive impact wherever you find yourselves.”

“Go on being good Ambassadors of this University and I pray that Almighty Allah in his infinite mercies would reward you all for your contributions to humanity and its sustenance,” Professor Bello added.

The induction lecturer, Professor Abimbola Oluwatosin, A Professor of Community Health Nursing from the University of Ibadan while delivering the induction lecture enlightened the audience on the topic “Actualising Health-Related SDGs: The role of Nurses” and urged the inductees to look out for research opportunities and strive to make meaningful impacts in the profession.

The Registrar of the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria (NMCN), Mr. Faruk Umar Abubakar, who was represented by Alhaji Alhassan Ndagi administered the Induction oath on the inductees and thereafter commended the graduands for their impeccable performance at the professional examination.

He further charged the inductees to shy away from unethical practices if they aspire to excel in the field of nursing.

Award of Excellence as well as monetary prizes were presented to Miss Adeniyi Ifeoluwa Susan, with registration number 199228 for being the best graduating student of the Department of Nursing Science, and Miss Adeosun Lovette Adebola for her leadership contributions to the department.
