The Ooni of lfe, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi says it is worthy to celebrate women for their socio-cultural and political roles in effecting positive changes in the society.

This is just as the foremost monarch
said female persons with disabilities including their male counterparts should be empowered and encouraged and not be allowed to experience discrimination of any sort in all their endeavors.

The monarch was speaking at his palace in lle-Ife during an empowerment programme for women and persons with disabilities, as part of events to commemorate the international Women’s Day.

One of the persons with disabilities, an ND1 student of Banking and Finance at Yaba polytechnic, Lagos State, Deborah Ojuade Temitope was lucky to receive offer of free scholarship to complete her education, she also received a laptop, cash gift and many other numerous gifts for her performance at the event.

Others were also rewarded for outstanding performance in different competitions organised for them.

Addressing newsmen, the Chief Executive Officer of Hope4sure Foundation, Peju Oke commended Oba Ogunwusi for supporting the initiative and similar others.

Oke described persons with disabilities as unique people who require a push to fully harness their potentials

She called on individuals and government to make it a priority to ensure that their acceptance in the society, like their counterparts abroad, is not negotiated.

Similarly, more than a hundred women were empowered under different initiatives facilitated by the Ooni of lfe, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi at a different location also in lle-Ife.

The women were trained, free of charge, in different ways of making primordial and modern tie and dye, batik, including other forms of crafts in cultural fabric design.

According to one of their instructors, Famoriyo Abidemi Richard, the gesture, which is continuous, is to make the participants productive and self-reliant.

While promising to harness the opportunity as an avenue for generating source of income, the participants
lauded Ooni for facilitating the initiative.
