Artisans and tradesmen under the aegis of Ajegunle Tradesmen and Artisans Association on Saturday declared their support for Governor Gboyega Oyetola and his second term ambition.

The traders who are mainly spare parts and car dealers, acknowledged the achievements of the present administration in the last three years and particularly commended Oyetola for making deliberate efforts to improve the socio-economic fortunes of the State.

The traders declared their support for Oyetola’s re-election bid during the inauguration of the newly elected executive of their association held at Nelson Mandela Freedom Park, Osogbo and was attended by the Governor.

Speaking on behalf of his colleagues, the Chairman of Ajegunle Tradesmen and Artisans Association, Alhaji Azeez Kamarudeen, said Oyetola had done excellently well and as such, deserves another term in office.

Kamarudeen who noted that the entire Ajegunle’s traders and artisans were resolute to mobilise massively for the governor’s re-election, added that they were pleased with his style of governance and sterling performance.

He identified some of the achievements of the Governor as the basis of their support, noting that they had felt the multiplier effect of the regular payment of salaries to workers in the State and other good works done by the present Administration.

“Sir, your tenure should not stop at one term, as various organizations, societies and individual speak highly of your accomplishments in the State and urged you to continue the good work, we are all in support of your second term bid, because you deserve it.

“With little resources available at your disposal, you were able to perform excellently and judiciously. Ajegunie says 4+4=8, Insha Allah. We, Ajegunle Tradesmen and Artisans Association appreciates that you carried us along through this tenure and we thank you for all you have done for us.

“We are confident that your second tenure will bring more benefits in all facets of infrastructure and social amenities to Ajegunle and for the State at large.

“We thank Your Excellency for the friendly manner you’ve always attended to our requests whenever we approach you. For example during the regime of Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, there was a fire disaster at Ajegunle in which many goods and properties were lost, the Aregbesola’s Administration was unable to grant our request of assistance for the affected members due to time constraint, but when you came into office as the new Executive Governor of Osun State, you were able to facilitate the release of the sum of 5million naira as a palliative for the affected members.

“The road within Ajegunle leading to UTH Uniosun was recently reconstructed by your administration. We also thank you for choosing two of our leading members as Commissioners in which both of them are capable in their respective duties. There was no time we came to you for assistance that you reject us. We thank you once again.

“Sir, I must thank you for your prompt intervention on the land we are pursuing, the place is very suitable for us. As you want Osogbo and Osun State to transform into a mega city, we will like to partner with you through the process of actualising your goals”, he added.

In his remarks, Governor Oyetola expressed gratitude to the association for the show of love and appreciation of the works he has done.

The Governor promised to remain steadfast and steady in ensuring the delivery of dividends of democracy for all.

“You are central to socio-economic development of the State. You are indispensable companions. You have contributed significantly to the development of our State hence the need to sustain our partnership.

“If not for Covid-19 pandemic that destabilised our plans of ensuring that each and everyone of you has the opportunity of purchasing spare parts from China to Osun, but by the grace of God, we will take the vision to fruition this year.

“It is a known fact that you are for us. You are progressives and I thank you for the confidence you have for us to continue our good works. I will continue to support you. We have approved the immediate release of funds to some of you that were owed,” Oyetola said.
