OAU Student’s Death: Court Remands OUI Founder, Adedoyin
A Federal High Court in Abuja has remanded the founder of Oduduwa University Ile-Ife(OUI), and the Polytechnic, Ile-Ife, Dr. Ramon Adegoke Adedoyin over the death of Timothy Adegoke, a postgraduate student at Obafemi Awolowo University, OAU.
Recall that Adedoyin who is also the owner of Hilton Hotel and Resort in Ile-Ife was arrested over alleged ritual killing of master student in OAU.
The deceased, Timothy Adegoke reportedly came from Abuja to sit for his examination at the OAU distance learning centre, Moro, Osun State on November 5.
Adegoke who was declared missing on November 7, was found dead at a sallow grave according to the OAU management.
The police had earlier arrested six suspects linked to the death of the student.
All the suspects arrested in connection with the crime including Adedoyin were later transferred to Abuja
However, a federal High Court in Abuja declined the request for bail made by the embattled Hilton hotel founder, Adedoyin.
The court ordered that Adedoyin be remanded pending the next hearing.
Adedoyin had, in an ex-parte motion, filed along with a fundamental rights enforcement suit prayed the court to admit him to bail pending the conclusion of investigation by the police or pending the determination of his fundamental rights suit.
On the alternative, he asked that he be allowed access to quality medical facilities of his choice pending the conclusion of police’s investigation and his possible arraignment.
Ruling after listening to Kunle Adegoke (SAN), who led a team of lawyers for Adedoyin, Justice Inyang Ekwo declined to grant any of the prayers.
However, Justice Ekwo ordered Adedoyin to serve the motion and other processes in the case on the sole respondent – the Inspector General of Police (IGP) – and adjourned till December 9 for hearing.
