The leadership of the South West Agenda (SWAGA) has intensified mobilisation for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in Osun State, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji (AMBO), ahead of the August 15 governorship election and the 2027 general elections.
Speaking at the launch of SWAGA 2.0 in Osogbo on Tuesday, the National Chairman of the group, Senator Dayo Adeyeye, urged the electorate to vote overwhelmingly for President Tinubu in 2027 and Oyebamiji in the forthcoming Osun governorship election.
Adeyeye appealed to the people of Osun State to replicate the recent electoral success recorded in neighbouring Ekiti State, where Governor Biodun Oyebanji secured a landslide re-election victory on June 20, by voting massively for AMBO.
He also canvassed support for President Tinubu’s re-election bid, arguing that the administration’s reforms in critical sectors, including finance, agriculture, infrastructure and education, have continued to earn the confidence of Nigerians.
He stated, “Tinubu will win second term by the grace of God. He will also win all the 36 states and Federal Capital Territory, Abuja. Like the second term governor of Ekiti who won all the local governments during the last governorship poll in Ekiti, Tinubu will also win all the states of the federation with your support.”
Also speaking, the Osun State Coordinator of SWAGA and Executive Chairman of the Federal Character Commission (FCC), Ayo Omidiran, said the group’s primary objective in the state is to secure victory for Oyebamiji in the August 15 governorship poll.
According to her, “Our collective efforts have yielded remarkable political victories. The spirit of unity, organization, and commitment demonstrated through SWAGA contributed significantly to strengthening the progressive family across Nigeria.
“Similar mobilization and solidarity programmes were witnessed in Ekiti and Ondo States, where progressive forces worked together in support of our party’s electoral success. Today, that same spirit has brought us to Osun State because every progressive state deserves purposeful leadership.
“Our mission in Osun State is therefore clear. We are here to mobilize support for our distinguished governorship candidate, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji (AMBO), a man widely recognized for administrative competence, financial discipline, strategic thinking, and an unwavering commitment to public service,” Omidiran said.
In his remarks, the Managing Director of the Federal Housing Authority (FHA), Hon. Oyetunde Oladimeji Ojo, said the launch of SWAGA 2.0 was aimed at consolidating support for President Tinubu’s second-term bid while rallying backing for the APC governorship candidate in Osun.
He said, “We’re to launch SWAGA 2.0, for the coming of Asiwaju Bola Tinubu 2027, but most importantly to come and give support to our own brother Bola Oyebamiji. I expect by August 15 he would be Osun State Governor, and to tell Osun people what Mr President has been doing in terms of road infrastructure, health, based on the great work of Mr President. We don’t want Osun to be left out in this game. That is why we’re here to talk to the people of Osun to give their support to Bola Oyebamiji come August 15 so that we be a team work from the Presidency to the state level together. APC is the party that is needed in every state because of development.”
Responding, Oyebamiji, who was represented by the former Chief Whip of the Osun State House of Assembly, Hon. Olalekan Olatunji, assured the people of inclusive governance if elected.
He promised that “we will cater for the collective interest of everyone. All our capital projects will be evenly spread across all parts of Osun State.”
