Akosin Stool: Withdraw Instrument of Office Presented To Kasali Olagunju – Nyanbilolu Ruling House Urges Osun Govt

…insists Olagunju is not from any Royal Family in Ekosin

…says it’s their turn to produce new Akosin of Ekosin

The Elders of Nyanbilolu ruling house in Ekosin, Odo-otin local government area of Osun state have rejected the appointment of one Kazali Olagunju as the monarch of Ekosin, saying he is not from Nyanbilolu ruling house or any other ruling house in the town.

They described the appointment Olagunju as unlawful action
that would lay a bad precedence for future generations in the town.

Addressing a press conference on Friday in Osogbo, on behalf of the elders of Nyanbilolu ruling house, Prince Kayode Asa, disowned Olagunju, saying he is neither from any Royal family, including their own.

The ruling house called on the State government to withdraw the instrument of office presented to Kazali Olagunju and to respect the judiciary as an independent arm.

“We the Ruling Houses in Ekosin have called you here today to tell the world about the reckless and flagrant abuse of office and power and most importantly, the sheer disobedience to the rule of law perpetrated by some political officers in the administration of the Governor of Osun State Asiwaju Ademola Adeleke over the filling of vacant stool of Akosin of Ekosin.

“We the Ruling Houses and by extension, the community as a whole are in shock as these political officers under the guise of Osun State Government have used the dark to cover and present unceremonious “staff of office” to an impostor as our traditional ruler.
Background”

The Nyanbilolu demanded to know when the State Executive Council ratified the appointment of Kazali Olagunju as Akosin and why the government officials could not come to Ekosin to present the instrument of office to him if truly the process was right.

The ruling house added it had earlier been contacted to present candidates for the vacation stool being the next in line but was surprised with the turn of event.

It said “The family of Nyanbilolu was asked to be contacted to fill the stool and the family received a letter to present a Prince. Sooner after we started the process and presented a crown Prince, we heard that the Kingmakers led by Ojomu of Ekosin were attempting to install one Kazali Olagunju who hails from Adio Compound as Akosin of Ekosin. We approached the court and the matter is still pending in the court.

“On the 1st day of February 2024, we protested at the Osun State Government House to register our grievances. Still, the government Representatives told us that they had not chosen any monarch for our town and that the matter would only be resolved after the ongoing court case.

“As law-abiding citizens who believe that people like the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Mr. Dosu Babatunde, Special Adviser to Governor Ademola Adeleke on Chieftaincy matters, Adam Akindele, Chairman of Odo-Otin local government, Adewale Adeyinka and other members in position of trust are trustworthy and are people of integrity, we believed them. On Monday this week, we were in court for the continuation of hearing.

“It is highly embarrassing that some of the above-mentioned people are not what we think they are as they have gone ahead to present a staff of office to an impostor on 11th June 2024 in the office of the Special Adviser to the Governor on Chieftaincy Affair at the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs in Osogbo.

“We also have not seen a report of any State Executive Council Meeting where the ratification of Kazali Olagunju as Akosin of Ekosin was made as we’re aware that none of such was held last week. We only started seeing the picture of the presentation on Wednesday the 12th of June, 2024.”

Some of the demands of Nyanbilolu ruling house is the call on the State government to caution Kazali Olagunju to stop parading himself as Akosin of Ekosin and that no privilege should be accorded him in any form until the determination of the case at the Court.

Also, that the State government should respect the judiciary and allow the ongoing Court process to run through as it earlier promised.
