Armed Thugs Led By Adagunodo Invaded Our Party (PDP) Secretariat – Sunday Bisi
Factional Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party in Osun State, Sunday Bisi has branded as ‘an invasion’ the resumption of the embattled Chairman of the party, Soji Adagunodo at the party’s secretariat in Osogbo on Friday.
Adagunodo who alongside some other members of the party resumed at the PDP secretariat had said his action was in accordance with the court orders which refrained the party from removing him as the chairman and at the same time restrained the party from recognising Sunday Bisi as substantive chairman.
However, Sunday Bisi has described the action as unfortunate, saying Adagunodo had before toed the path of civility by approaching the court and should have effected proper service of the order on all parties concerned.
“The invasion of the party secretariat today by armed thugs led by the erstwhile chairman of the party, Soji Adagunodo in company of heavily armed thugs from his regular base in Ibadan was most unfortunate to say the least”.
“It is expected that, Adagunodo, having hitherto chosen the path of civility by going to court with his grievances, would respect letters of the order he procured at the state High Court in ikirin. It is also expected in clear terms that he would effect proper service of the order on all parties concerned, even in his desperate bid to effect the spirit of the order. That path we thought he chose, would be respected and the reason for that Osun PDP has been waiting for the service of the order as purportedly procured and as circulated in the social media” Bisi said.
“Again, as a member of the PDP in Osun state, one would expect Soji Adagunodo to refrain from actions inimical to the image of the party in the state, especially at this time. Invading the party Secretariat with armed thugs from neighboring Oyo State and the attendant vandalisation of properties of the party by the sponsored hoodlums merely confirmed anti party insinuations against the former chairman. We hold that No true leader of the party, not in the realm of a man that has served in the capacity of the state chairman would ever commit such sacrilege against the party”.
However, a big family like the PDP will always open its arms for reconciliation even with prodigal elements like we saw in the former chairman today. Therefore, the PDP still want to appeal to Adagunodo and his motley supporter to eschew violence and abide by the rules of engagements as PDP members in ventilating whatever grievances he has against the party. We believe he trusts the law court he approached and he should have allowed the law to run its course. It is a shame that a man who was given the privilege of leading the party at the state chairmanship level would take up arms against the same party. It is sad!
“While we appeal to all PDP loyalists in the state to remain calm in the face of the present and unwarranted provocation by Adagunodo and his Co undertakers, we warn that this group of dissidents should bury the thought of selling Osun PDP off to their APC ‘bankrollers’. It will not work and they can take that to the bank”.
“Again, we enjoin party enthusiasts who have been calling to inquire about the unnecessary invasion of the party office to remain calm, as all necessary steps are being taken to address the unwarranted attack on the party by the ill advised former chairman of the party. The PDP assures that the party shall emerge stronger from here”.
