Ede Poly: Academic Board Vote of No Confidence Baseless – Rector
There seems to be no end in sight to crisis rocking the Federal Polytechnic, Ede, Osun State following a purported vote of no confidence passed on the reactor of the institution.
Members of the Academic Board has resulted to passing the vote following a rowdy session at the board meeting on Friday.
Also, rising from an emergency Congress held on the development, the Association of Staff Union of Polytechnic, Ede Chapter said, they have upheld the decision of the Academic Board.
But the Rector, Dr. John Kolawole said the ‘Vote of no confidence’ passed on him by the Academic Board of the institution has no basis, claiming that they are acting the script of ASUP.
Doctor John Adekolawole who stated this while speaking with Journalists on the purported ‘Vote of No Confidence’ said he has never been found culpable of any gross misconduct that could have warranted his suspension.
He said he is not averse to dialogue for the sake of academic activities of students and sanity in the system.
The rector who is also the Chairman of the Academic Board, said the action is conspiracy against him by some of the lecturers who has skeleton in their cupboard.
He said report of the committee set up to investigate issues surrounding the Dual Award programme has neither been discussed nor adopted before the vote of no confidence was passed.
“They raised issue about the distant learning programme that the school is running in ilori campus and Ila campus. The report of the committee set up on the DUA award programme has not been considered, the next thing was for somebody to move a motion of vote of no confidence, where is that done?
“They insisted that we should cancel a whole session. How can you say we should cancel a session when they have written first semester examination and Academic board had considered the results. That’s not fair? They did not consider plight of the students and their parents who paid the tuition for them.
The Academic Board had alleged the rector of high handedness in the management of affairs of the institution.
The board members told journalists that the rector’s foul play, particularly in the dual Award programme coordinated by the institution led to the motion of ‘vote of no confidence.
