Ekiti: Likely Ministerial Nominees – By Concerned Citizen
As the swearing-in ceremony of the Nigerian President-Elect, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the Vice President-Elect, Alhaji Kashim Shettima is less than 9 days, there have been speculations in some quarters about the likely nominee from Ekiti.
Three names have been on the front burner which are, the immediate Former Governor of Ekiti state, Dr John Kayode Fayemi, the Former Minister of State for Works, Prince Dayo Adeyeye and the Deputy Chief of Staff to Governor of Plateau State, the DG of the defunct Tinubu/Shettima campaign council, Amb. (Dr.) Adegboyega Bamisile. These worthy sons of Ekiti in all ramifications are said to be qualified to represent the state in the incoming administration cabinet.
Now let’s take a look at each of this suggested nominees.
Dr Kayode Fayemi:
He  is the immediate past Governor of Ekiti state and also former chairman Nigeria’s Governor’s Forum. Dr. Fayemi served as Minister of Solid minerals development during the first term of President Muhammadu Buhari between 2015 to 2018. He contested the presidential primary with the president-elect, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu before his ambition for the later at the last minute. He is seen as strong contender for the ministerial slot but the petition against him at EFCC may affect him in getting the Ministerial position this time around.
Prince Dayo Adeyeye: He is one of the stalwarts of the All Progressives Congress(APC) and national coordinator of Southwest Agenda for Tinubu known as SWAGA. He was a former minister of state for works under former President Jonathan administration from 2014 to 2015. He also contested and won the Senatorial election for Ekiti South Senatorial District in 2019 and served briefly as the spokesperson of the Senate before he was ousted by a court ruling in 2019. Prince Dayo Adeyeye is rumoured as likely contender for the ministerial job, but he lost his town to SDP during the state assembly election in Ekiti State, People are doubting also his readiness to settle scores with rank and file in the political arena of the state. A situation that causes many to believe that the crisis within the state will further deepen should he get the Ministerial slot.
Amb. (Dr.) Adegboyega Bamisile: Dr. Adegboyega Bamisile is a Global Diplomat, a United Nation’s Eminent Peace Ambassador, a development expert, a multifaceted politician and chieftain of the All Progressives Congress from Kota, Omuo-Ekiti. He is a brother to the current House of Representatives member representing Ekiti South Federal Constituency II, Rt. (Hon) Olufemi Bamisile. Dr. Adegboyega has a PHD in view, a Post graduate in public administration from Ahmadu Bello University in 2013. He also went to Havard Business school and had degree in Business strategy in 2016. He’s a lover of Youths and students in the state and he seems to be fully at home with his people. Only last weekend, he gave out Bursary award scholarship to over 150 indigenous students across all the varsity institutions in the state.
He is a close supporter and son to the President-Elect and likely nominee for the ministerial job.
