Foundation Raises Physically Challenged Students Hope in Osun, Donates Learning Equipment

The need to show love and care to the physically challenged persons in the society has again been emphasised.
The Amir, Al-ihsan Islamic Welfare Foundation, Mallam Miftaudeen Olayiwola stated this while the School for Persons with Special Needs, Osogbo was taken delivery of some education equipment donated by the foundation.
Mallam Olayiwola said the less privileged particularly, the physically challenged persons must be supported with a view to making them actualize their potentials.
He said the gesture is to complement efforts of government because of the limited resources.
“Government cannot do it all because a lot of people depend on them. We as organisation, individual can also contribute by complementing government efforts in reducing poverty among our people.
“Allah commands us in the holy Quran to support in doing good and also warns us not to assist people in doing evils. This is to promote good deeds among yourselves.
“Here we are presenting typewriters (21pieces) to visual impaired indigent pupils of schools for special needs. We have done a lot of empowerment in the past and we are still going to do more. We target indigent pupils, widows and other less privileged in the society. Through our women empowerment, we donated gridding, and sewing machines to support widow and improve their economic power.

The Head of the School for Persons with Special Needs, Funmilayo Oluwatoyin lauded the consistency of the Islamic foundation over the past six years with donations of education equipment and materials to aid learning for the physically challenged students.
According to her, “the visually impaired pupils cannot use pen and paper, they use typewriter and braille. What Al-ihsan is doing will assist the pupils and aid their learning. We thank them greatly
A consultant psychiatrist, Dr. Kazeem Adebayo stressed on why the physically challenged person should not be discriminated against for them to have a sense of in the society.
He urged people to associate with them and show them love that they deserve, saying their disability is not contagious and so cannot spread to other people by any means.
