The Federal Government has expressed willingness to consider the payroll initiative of the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU.

The Academic Staff Union of Universities had proposed what it called “the University Transparency and Accountability Solution( UTAS)” instead of the Integrated Payroll and Personnel information System. IPPIS, proposed by the government.

Nigeria’s Labour Minister ,Chris Ngige disclosed this in Abuja while addressing the Senate at a joint meeting with relevant stakeholders on the Integrated Payroll and Personnel information System.

Before Journalists were excused from the meeting, the Minister said the government is currently reviewing shortfalls of the IPPIS with the possibility of complimenting it with the ASSU’s Invention ( UTAS )

Recall that the leadership of ASSU appeared before the Senate on Monday to present what it termed an alternative solution to the IPPIS , which according to him was commended by the Senate President.

The meeting is a follow up to Monday’s meeting with ASSU , but this time around, with the federal Government officials with the aim of sorting out lingering issues the University transparency and accountability solution( UTAS).
