A Magistrate court sitting in Ile-Ife, Osun Stwte on Wednesday, remanded a 38-year-old man, Bamigboye Opeyemi, for allegedly killing his neighbour while terrorising other residents.

The Prosecutor, Inspector Elijah Adesina, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on February 24, 2021 around 3:30 pm at Oke-Ora village via Ile-Ife.

Adesina said that the defendant conspired with others now at large to commit felony.

He added that Opeyemi unlawfully fired a gun shot at his neighbour, Segun Awotunde and killed him.

Adesina said the defendant conducted himself in a manner that caused the breach of public peace and terrorised the people of the village.

The Prosecutor stated further that the defendant intended to kill one Opeyemi Rabiu, by shooting him with a gun on his head, which caused him harm.

Adesina explained that the defendant attempted murdering one Adesoji Yinka by firing him with a gun on his left thigh, which injured him.

He said that the offence contravened sections 249(d), 319(1), 320(1), 324 and 516 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Osun, 2002.

Magistrate A. I. Oyebadejo, did not take the plea of the defendant on the ground that the court lacks jurisdiction to try murder case.

Oyebadejo asked the prosecutor to duplicate the case file to the office of the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) for legal advice.

She therefore ordered for his remand in Ile-Ife Nigerian Correctional Centre for legal advice. The matter was adjourned till May 3, for hearing.
