Olubosin Condemns Owo Massacre
The Olubosin of Ifetedo Kingdom and Paramount Ruler of Ife South Local Government Area of Osun State, Oba Akinola Oyetade Akinrera, Latiiri 1, has expressed sadness over the attack and killing of innocent people while worshipping at the St Francis Catholic Church along Owaluwa Street on Sunday.
According to the Olubosin of Ifetedo Kingdom in a press statement made available to Journalists in his palace on Monday, “I think it has become incumbent on me to add my voice in the condemnation of the barbaric Owo massacre which has left every right thinking person bewildered”.
Oba Akinrera, who was deeply saddened over the unfortunate incident said that the perpetrators without mincing words are enemies of the people.
Speaking further, the Monarch who described the attack as an assault on the peace and tranquillity of the ancient Owo community called on the Federal Government to bring the perpetrators to book with despatch and put in place necessary measures to abate the senseless and unwarranted killings across the Country.
In addition, the Olubosin of Ifetedo condoled with the Ondo State Governor, Mr Rotimi Akeredolu, the Olowo of Owo Kingdom and Paramount Ruler of Owo land, Oba (Dr) Ajibade Gbedegesin Ogunoye 111, the good people of Owo Kingdom and the relatives of the victims.
Oba Akinrera in the statement, urged the people of Owo to remain calm and avoid any resort to self-help which may aggravate the situation.
He concluded by praying for the repose of the souls of the victims.
