Origbo Community High Sch – Old students donate ICT hall, modern toilet, others

Old students of Origbo Community High School, Ipetumodu in Ife North Local Government Area of Osun State, have called on Nigerians to invest in their alma mater.

Speaking on Saturday with newsmen at the official commissioning of three gigantic projects produced by the old students of the school, the National President of the association, Barrister Gunle Adesiyan said the gesture was a means of giving back to their alma mater.

Barr Adesiyan, who implored other old students to emulate the gesture said, the projects being commissioned officially today by us include Block of four (4) Classrooms renovated by 1978 set, ICT Hall fully equipped with computers and other gadgets which is one of the best having in the zone and a befitting and modern toilet for both the teachers and students in order to avoid open defecation, “we need more of this in our school as we can’t leave everything for the government to do.

The National President used the occasion to advise the students to be focused and diligent saying, ” you may look at yourself as small but you are not small. Don’t be distracted, do not allow peer pressure take away your future and don’t follow bad eggs”.


Also speaking, the General Secretary of the association, Dr Rahaman Akinyele Adedokun said the little they have done was just a preamble saying they are still going to do more towards the upliftment of the aged school.

“I want to commends and appreciate our national president and others that have joined us in making the day a reality, and looking at the economic situation of our country, it is not easy coming together to make financial commitment as this, but I give kudos to everyone while am calling other old students from far and near to quickly join us for the betterment of both the school and ourselves as it is good to be together” Dr Adedokun added.

In addition, one of the old students who was highly elated at the colourful and well attended commissioning ceremony, Engr Marcus Iyiola Ayoola said, it is good for everyone to inculcate the culture of coming back to give to their alma mater saying what they did was just a beginning.

Engr Ayoola who urged other old students to join them in contributing their quotas to the development of the school said, there is greatness in everyone, “I want others to come along with us in promoting the school as government cannot be doing things alone, we need to join them also.

While appreciating the Alumni of OCHS Ipetumodu’s gesture, the entire Ipetumodu Development Forum (IDF) thanked them for their brilliant efforts to uplift the face of the school via their various projects, ranging from modern toilet, renovation of blocks of classrooms and another set of computer systems etc.

According to the Chairman of the forum, Elder Taiwo Oyetade, the Vice-Chairman, Barrister Banji Akinloye and General Secretary, Mr Kehinde Oyetunmbi, “bravo to the exco and the entire old students of the school as their efforts was a round peg in a round hole, we hail you all”.
