Osun Robbery Attacks: Slain Police Constabulary Buried Amidst Grief, Tears

The Police Constabulary, Jelili Aladeokin who died during an armed robbery attack on two Banks in Iree, Osun State on Thursday has been buried in Islamic way on Friday.

His remains arrived the Iree Muslim cemetery at about 11 on Friday morning where Islamic clerics performed the burial rite amidst grief and sorrow.

Speaking at their family house at Dam Area, Iree, wives of the deceased wanted the armed robbers arrested and made to face the wrath of the law.


Some indigenes of Iree described Jeleel Aladeokun as a youth who dedicated his life to providing effective security of the town.

They said his death would leave a vacuum in the internal security of the town and he would be missed by many.

Speaking in his office in Osogbo, the State Commissioner of Police, Olawale Olokode said the attacks were carried out simultaneously on the police station and the banks.

Olokode disclosed that the police was still combing the area and assured that the manhunt would continue until the assailants were arrested.

He confirmed that four people who were injured during the attacks were receiving treatment in an undisclosed hospital.

According to him, some vehicles used for the robbery operation numbering four were dumped by of the armed robbers and were now in police custody.

The police commissioner however enjoined members of the public to always cooperate with the police by providing useful information that would help in taming criminal activities before they would be carried out.

He said the robbery attack could have been contained if the residents have been vigilant enough and alerted the police once there were suspicious movements
