Pray For More Financial Resources For Osun, Oyetola Tasks Religious Organizations, Leaders

Osun State Governor, Gboyega Oyetola on Sunday tasked religious leaders and organisations to pray for progress and development as well as more financial resources for the State.

This he said, would assist the government to accomplish all its laudable plans and projects for the state.

Oyetola gave the task in Iwo during the 28th anniversary of the Ta’awuni Muslimeen Islamic Organization and award presentation.

He pleaded to religious leaders and organisation to intensity prayers for peace and tranquility to continue reign in the state and Nigeria as whole.

The governor who was represented by the State Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters, Adebayo Adeleke, described Ta’awuni as a friend of his government and the people.


He commended Taawuni Islamic organization for it efforts in the area of social intervention and empowerment programme for the needy, acknowledging that the gesture goes a long way in complementing government efforts to lift people above poverty line.

He said, “Mr. Governor actually commend the organisation, he employ the people of Iwo to be one because a house that is divided against itself will not stand. Through Islam which is a symbol of unity, they should be united as one.

“Amir Ta’awuni is a good friend of the government, he is a good friend of Mr Governor and he’s a good friend of the people.

“Going by the virtue of Islam, especially during Ramadan, the holy month, the month that you ask for and it shall be given, Mr Governor asked the organisation to please pray to Almighty Allah to bless Osun the more with financial resources”.

Speaking, the Amir Taawuni Islamic organization, Sheik Dawood Molaasan said the organization philosophy was people oriented, hence the various social intervention programmes to assist them live a worthwhile life.


Sheik Molaasam pledged that the Islamic organization would not rest on its laurels but will continue to embark on programmes that would help humanity.

“We believe that the 28 years is not enough to achieve all the achievements but with the power of Almighty Allah. Achievements in very many areas, in aspect of education, we have established more than fifty nursery, primary and secondary schools, we currently run a college of education and we are planing to turn it into a university.

“We are empowering widows, sponsoring their children’s education. We have a center for the orphans where we give them money for education. Currently, there are more than 400 orphans and 300 widows that we are taking care of.”

He stated that the only and best way to call people into a religion was to be good to all irrespective of their background and social leanings.

“We believe that if you want to call people into religion, we have to be theoretical and practical in our approach. When we preach that Islam is a religion of peace and development, we have to be practical, that is why we created many charity programmes, social intervention programmes in order to emphasise what we are preaching.

“We have many plans to implement and they are people oriented. We create new things to correct things that are not good for people in the society in orther to show how to do things in the best ways.” Sheik Molasan said.

Ace broadcaster, Tope Alabi formerly of the Nigeria Television Authority, NTA Osogbo was among the awardees at the event.

In attendance were Oluwo of Iwo, Oba AbsulRasheed Akanbi, the chairman governing council, Federal College of Education, Iwo, Alhaji Lia Talla, Islamic clerics and a hosts of others.
