The kingmakers of Moro community in lfe North local government area of Osun State have pledged to ensure due process in selecting who would become the next king.
The stool of Olumoro became vacant after the passing of Oba Ezekiel Abidoye Oyeyemi in February, 2024 who reigned for thirty-nine (39) years on the throne.
Delivering his address as the head of Olumoro in Council, the Oosa of Moro, Chief Festus Abidoye-Oyeniyi, at a press conference on Wednesday in Moro, said the council was ready to select the new Kabiyesi as soon as the Royal Families present their candidates.
Chief Abidoye-Oyeniyi said the traditional council consisting of all the high chiefs were determined to be fair and just in choosing the best to become the next king among contestants.
He said “I have met all the High Chiefs, Chiefs and Baales in the land not to collec any dine from anyone, neither stand against the decision of the entire land nor be a traitor otherwise, such will be judged by God. On behalf of the entire Moro Traditional Council, we don’ have anbody at heart to emerge as the Kabiyesi, hence, nobody should deliver any message or behalf of the town except from Moro Palace, otherwise, the wrought of God will come upon such individuals.
“If as a prince, you are interested to be the Olumoro of Moro Land, it will be better you go back to your family, so that you can be presented to the King Makers and the entire Moro Traditiona Council. We don’t want any problem as regards this selection, all Baales and Chiefs in Ruling families should warn their children because anyone caught distrusting the pace of the land wil face the wrought of law.”
The Oosa of Moro said, the traditional council has the assurance of the Ooni of lfe, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi to choose the best candidate in the interest of the people and Moro as a community.
He however, cautioned stakeholders in the matter against conspiracy or any form of corrupt practices in the selection of candidate for the stool.
“I want everyone to be calm and have it in mind that the selection will be fair and due process will be followed. We have prayed, we are still praying and we laud everyone to continue to join us in prayers as to follow God’s mind to select a God own King. But I want to inform the entire Moro Land to know that Kabiyesi have left a bigger shoe which is highly important for a God fearing individual to wear.
“May I tell all that during the visit of His Imperial Majesty, Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi to Moro Land in a bit to share in our joy had said and I quote “Whatever Moro want is what Ife want and Moro should not desist from giving full support to Ife as recorded during the time of our late Kabiyesi”. His Imperial Majesty, Ooni of Ife Land is in support of whatever is being done to select new Kabiyesi to be enthroned,” Chief Oosa said.
In separate interviews, some stakeholders in the town, including Oluomo Olalekan Obisakin, Wole Adunola, as well as comrade Olajide Abomide expressed confidence in the ability and sincerity of the kingmakers to choose the best.
They also canvassed for maintenance of peace and harmony among the youth throughout the process.
