‘We Are Committed To Strengthening APC In Osun’ – Aregbesola Declares
…says he will begin statewide consultation to rebuild the party
The immediate past minister of interior, Rauf Aregbesola on Saturday said it is hight time to embark on statewide tour to visit members of the All Progressives Congress, APC and see to their welfare.
He believed the move would facilitate bringing together members of the party and once again return to political activities.
Aregbesola spoke in Osogbo during a reception party organised in his honour by his friend and loyalists.
The ex-interrior Minister who called for unity among members of the party said he was fully committed to strengthen the party in the state
The APC lost the July 16, 2022 governorship to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) due to internal crisis within the party.
Aregbesola said leaders of the party would now begin to visit members across the state on the need to strengthen and unite the party.
“I am deeply grateful to you, all. You have all shown me uncommon love and the reassurance that you are indeed with us.
“We are grateful. We will not let you down. We will soon begin a statewide tour to see all of our people and to assure them that we are fully back to see to their welfare.
“We are fully committed to strengthening the APC,” he said.
Earlier in their separate remarks, friends and associates of Aregbesola, particularly, National Population Census Commissioner, Senator Mudasiru Hussein had described him as a leader with a large heart and a dogged democrat.
Senator Hussein said Aregbesola’s return to Osun would change the political landscape of the State and make APC a party to reckon with.
The chairman of the planning committee of the event, Najeem Salaam, described Aregbesola as a man of many parts.
The former Speaker of the State House of Assembly, who appreciated God on behalf of the former governor, noted that in the last 24 years of public service, Mr Aregbesola had shown compassion, diligence, uncommon loyalty and determination to improve the lots of the populace.
Also, Kolapo Alimi, a former commissioner for local government and chieftaincy affairs, described Ogbeni Aregbesola as a rare gift to humanity.
“Oga is a rare gift to humanity. He combines service to God and people so well,” he said.
