Hunger drove looters to attack my house – Ex – Osun Deputy Governor

The immediate past Deputy Governor of Osun State, Otunba Grace Titi Ponle-Tomori has said the hoodlums that besieged her GRA residence in Osogbo and carted always valuables worth millions of Naira were driven by hunger.

Hundreds of looters had in early hours of Saturday, 24th October, 2020 besieged the former Deputy Governor’s residence and carted away home appliances, electronics, musical equipment and other valuables

According to her, one of her neighbors called her on phone immediately the looters bombarded her residence.

“My house keeper reportedly ran for dear life when she was attacked while my police orderly received some beatings when he tried to stop the looting particularly in their attempt to steal the motorcycle in the premises”.

“The looters vandalised the chapel where prayers are held and carted away a keyboard, television set, refrigerator, projector and the machines we use for producing garri” .

“Not done, the mob stole all the foodstuff in the premises including bags and packs of garri produced for sale in my farm and fish feeds that we use to feed the fish in her pond”.

Recall that during the lockdown occasioned by the COVID19 Pandemic, Otunba Ponle-Tomori purchased food stuffs and other palliatives which were distributed to vulnerable people in Osogbo, Olorunda, Orolu and Irepodun Federal constituency.

Otunba Ponle-Tomori said, “may be this attracted them thinking we still have more items in the residence”.

She decried the attack on her house under the guise of protest. “I am not in any position. I am not in government, I was a Deputy Governor. I did not steal any money. I wonder why the attack” she lamented.

She however said the looters need empathy and prayers for forgiveness because ” it was hunger that drove them. May God rehabilitate Nigeria. We felt pained for them and pray for them” , She added.
