Ramadan: Preach, Pray, Work For Peace in Nigeria – Kafayat Oyetola urges, Urges Clerics, Nigerians

The wife of Osun State Governor, Mrs Kafayat Oyetola has urged religious leaders and Nigerians in general to continue to preach peace as well as work for the unity of the country.

She implored Muslim faithful to take advantage of the holy month of Ramadan to pray for progress and development of Osun State and the nation at large.

Mrs. Oyetola was speaking on Wedness during a Ramadan Tafsir programme which held at the Okefia Government House in Osogbo.


She noted that the programme was part of her of her contribution to give back to the people as well as provide a platform where they would be fed with words of God and make them more pious.

“Generally, during the period of Ramadan it’s always good to give and show love to people. We are all one, for the betterment of the society we should try to assist one another.

“This is a holy month and the month of forgiveness. My advice to the Muslims is to continue to obey the law of God, fear God, love one another and stay away from sin,” she said.

The Osun First Lady also admonished parents and guardians to show love and care to their children and ward, saying this would instill the culture in them and the society would be better for it.


She used the occasion to appreciate the State Governor, Gboyega Oyetola on the way and manner his government was sustaining the relative peace of the state.

She said, “i want to thank my husband, governor Gboyega Oyetola for maintaining peace in the state. You can see that the, Amotekuns, vigilantes groups, hunters association and the police are doing their best towards securing the state.”

The State Deputy Governor, Benefit Alabi congratulates Muslims and the people of the state for witnessing the holy month and urged them to continue to take precautionary measure of COVID-19 to stay safe during and after Ramadan.


He urged opinion leaders including religious organizations and leaders to always preach essence of peace to their followers.

“Any gathering of people is a place for dissemination of information and the mosque, the church are parts of them so I urge the imams, pastors and other opinion moulders to continue to preach peace and pray for Osun State and our nation so that we can live in peace.”

The guest speaker, Dr AbdulRasheed Buwaeb, in his lecture on the significance of Ramadan told Muslims to live by the lessons of Ramadan all the days of their lives.

He said, “Fasting was commanded by God to renew our lives and to reinforce our connection with Him.”

Dr. Buwaeb noted that “fasting serves as a guide to live in God’s way rather than humans.”
